(More customer reviews)The finishing touch in the new Mychelle acne skin line, "Clear Skin Balancing Cream" is a slick, slightly heavy cream used to prevent dehydration of your skin while you are simultaneously attempting to curb excess oil and bacteria spread. Quite a trick, and this product performs better than Mychelle's Oil-Free Grapefruit Cream and is a suitable choice for those using the rest of the acne line.
Creams are Mychelle's weak point. They make good masks, great peels and innovative serums, but the cleansers and creams? A mixed bag. Many people prefer the original "Pumpkin Renew" cream over the current "greener" formulation (the original pumpkin scent was delicious but not so real) and the night cream smells like baby powder and feels like mushy wax. This new acne cream fares somewhat better, but though touted as "oil free" it contains oil fractions and feels a little suffocating even when lightly applied. I didn't break out, however, and that's the function of the product. Tea tree, Zinc and Willow Herb keep the bacteria in check and the redness down, but I can't bring myself to award it more than three stars.
When you use Dr. Hauschka or Indian Meadows, you get the feeling you are using a product botanically alive. It's like the difference between canned soup and Mom's from-scratch vegetable minestrone. Just better, just fresher. Mychelle's creams, this one included, are the equivalent of organic canned soup. It does the job and it's a cleaner choice, but there's something more to be had. They can do better.
